Will Hawkes

Insect Hunter, Scientist and Prehistoric Art enthusiast

Will Hawkes grew up in a valley in North Wales, dreaming of being an explorer finding new animals and behaviours.

He’s now studying a PhD in insect migration at Exeter University, which has taken him to wild and beautiful places finding these creatures. Insects travel globally in trillions: some dragonflies migrate between India and Africa, while some flies transport pollen thousands of kilometres across continents to pollinate the world’s flowers. We’re discovering these migratory insects are absolutely vital to the Earth’s ecosystem which we all rely on.
