Professor Andy Miah

Posthumanism and bioethics

Andy Miah’s research focuses on the promise and peril of new technologies and his career has spanned such areas as genetics, nanotechnology, and transhumanism.

A passionate communicator, he believes that we need to unravel the future, by examining the ethics and morality of the options it presents. His interest in technology is born out of a desire to understand what happens to humanity in a world where digital and biotechnological innovations rapidly transform how we live.

What piece of work are you most proud of?

My book titled Genetically Modified Athletes, which tells a story about how human enhancement becomes a desirable practice in a world that is increasingly incompatible with human existence.
