Charlie Beckett

Journalist, Professor, Hammer

Charlie Beckett is a former journalist, now director of Polis, the LSE’s international journalism think-tank.

He is a professor in the Department of Media and Communications at the LSE. He is currently the director of the Polis Journalism and AI Project that produced a global report in 2019 on the use of AI, its ethics and future and he runs the Journalism and AI network. He is the author of SuperMedia, that described how journalism is becoming more networked and WikiLeaks: News In The Networked Era.

Beckett was the director of the LSE’s Truth, Trust and Technology Commission that reported in 2018 on policies to tackle the information crisis.
